Medical Assistant

Summary of Responsibilities
Taking and documenting patient vitals during the rooming process
Performing and processing lab tests per provider orders
Drawing blood per provider orders and processing samples as indicated
Administering vaccinations and injections per provider orders in accordance with CDC recommendations and company protocols
Assisting providers with procedures as needed
Contacting patients regarding lab results
Processing referrals per provider orders and following up with patients on referrals
Notifying the Practice Manager of needed supplies and vaccinations
Answering the telephone
Scheduling patients
Entering notes, ticklers and follow-ups in the Electronic Health Record as appropriate
Covering the front desk during rest periods and as needed/scheduled
Provide exceptional customer service at all times
Provide guidance within the scope of the role or as directed by the provider
Ensure exam rooms and lab are clean and stocked at all times
Ensure hazardous waste is properly disposed of at all times
Fully utilize EHR to document labs, referrals, prior authorizations, etc.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
High School diploma or greater
Completion of Medical Assistant Certification preferred
Completion and maintenance of all regulatory trainings
Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for Healthcare Providers
Key Competencies and Skills
Two or more years of experience providing Medical Assistant services in a clinical setting.
Experience exercising sound judgment and applying critical thinking skills to solve problems
Experience collaborating with providers and specialists to meet the routine and non-routine needs of the business.
Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

From $25.00 per hour DOE
