Medical Assistant

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Taking and documenting patient vitals during the rooming process

  • Performing and processing lab tests per provider orders

  • Drawing blood per provider orders and processing samples as indicated

  • Administering vaccinations and injections per provider orders in accordance with CDC recommendations and company protocols

  • Assisting providers with procedures as needed

  • Contacting patients regarding lab results

  • Processing referrals per provider orders and following up with patients on referrals

  • Notifying the Practice Manager of needed supplies and vaccinations

  • Answering the telephone

  • Scheduling patients

  • Entering notes, ticklers and follow-ups in the Electronic Health Record as appropriate

  • Covering the front desk during rest periods and as needed/scheduled

  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times

  • Provide guidance within the scope of the role or as directed by the provider

  • Ensure exam rooms and lab are clean and stocked at all times

  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly disposed of at all times

  • Fully utilize EHR to document labs, referrals, prior authorizations, etc.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or greater

  • Completion of Medical Assistant Certification preferred

  • Completion and maintenance of all regulatory trainings

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification for Healthcare Providers

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Two or more years of experience providing Medical Assistant services in a clinical setting.

  • Experience exercising sound judgment and applying critical thinking skills to solve problems

  • Experience collaborating with providers and specialists to meet the routine and non-routine needs of the business.

  • Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.

  • Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

From $25.00 per hour DOE
